What makes you special?| Mariana Atencio
|TEDxUniversityofNevada
Mariana Atencio has traveled the world from Haiti to Hong Kong. In her TEDx talk, Mariana tells us how the people she's met along the way and her own immigrant experience have taught her that the only thing we all have in common is being human. Get ready to 'get human' and embrace what makes you different! Take a stand to defend your race: the human race! Mariana Atencio is a Peabody Award-winning journalist, currently a national correspondent for NBC News and MSNBC. The Huffington Post called her ‘our Latina Christiane Amanpour’ and Jorge Ramos wrote: ‘Mariana is the next-gen voice for Latinos breaking all barriers.’ Mariana is known for combining in-studio work and high profile interviews like Pope Francis, with tenacious field reporting all over the world, covering youth-led protests in places like Ferguson, Mexico, Haiti and Hong Kong.
How to Get Up in the Morning | Zibby Lindholm | TEDxYorkSchool
Zibby Lindholm has always loved to share her opinions with the world. After years of others wondering how to build similar confidence, Zibby decided to share her experiences and her solutions. She provides a path that people may take to develop their thread of confidence. Throughout her talk, she seeks to prove that confidence is not an innate quality, using the talk itself as an example. When not obsessing over the latest Marvel or Star Wars movie trailer, Zib can be found skipping around campus to visit with all of her classmates. On the other hand, her natural habitat is the water and one can find her kicking names and taking ass in the waves. Or playing *drowning* in a game of waterpolo. She absolutely loves sleeping in and diving into new books from the comfort of her king-size fleece blanket. Always up for a vibrant discussion about science or Harry Potter, she will happily seek out the strangest of adventures.
